What to Binge-Watch While Social Distancing

If you’re like me (a complete existential nutcase) and this whole self-isolation/social distancing situation due to coronavirus is leaving you with too much time to ask yourself questions and reflect, I find the best way to get myself out of it is to watch as much mind-numbing TV as possible. Therefore, I’ve compiled a list of all the TV shows currently on Netflix that are perfect for you to binge and forget about the impending doom awaiting people as the world becomes a bleak and desolate wasteland.

View my complete list below:

Good Girls

Charmed (1998-2006)

Truly, a classic series in my honest opinion. Though, I will say I’m partial to seasons 1-3 for Shannen Doherty, Charmed is just one of those shows I can watch repeatedly without getting tired of. I also realize something I missed every time I do so.  I do prefer the original to the CW’s reboot — The new girls just don’t hunt demons the same. If you’re up for the challenge, try to keep up with me as I rewatch every episode, yet again. I’m currently on S3E10 and I have to say, Phoebe was really drinking some dumb b*tch juice over Cole. But then again, what girl hasn’t risked her life and sanity to be with a man they knew was wrong for them?

I love these oddball kids. Jasmine: total scene stealer. Jamal’s character is such an interesting concept. He’s a quirky genius, but imagine what that would look like as a black high school teen. There’s not many TV examples of that outside of 90’s, i.e. Smart Guy starring Tahj Mowry (and he wasn’t even technically a teenager). Ruby is so adorable, and I feel like everyone went to high school with a Ruby. Also, Spooky. As far as Season 3 is concerned *SPOILER ALERT,* I’m mainly just excited that the writers answered that plot hole where none of the young girls are secretly or openly lusting after Spooky. Spooky would’ve been a hot commodity at my high school.

Gilmore Girls

The Last O.G.

Love is Blind

Imagine the craziest social experiment possible, but on crack. That’s what Vanessa Lachey and obviously Nick Lachey accomplished when they unleashed the wildest 11-episodes of a reality TV show, I’ve ever seen. I watched a couple cry as they said “I love you” and get engaged without ever seeing the other person in the series opener. Honestly, nothing can prepare you for the romantic chaos that ensued after.

Gentefied

America Ferrera did that with this show. One of Netflix’s newer additions, the series follows three cousins as they work together to try and save their grandfather’s taco shop. It touches on gentrification, Trump, immigration, diverse latinx and LGBQ representation. It expertly toes the line of heartwarming without being cringe, and conscious without being ‘woke.’ I binged all of the episodes in one night, and don’t even get me started on the season finale — I actually won’t, because I know you want to watch it already. I say all this to say: America Ferrera, if for whatever Godforsaken reason, you’re scouring this desolate internet wasteland and stumble upon my small blog, I need more episodes.

I am a Killer

All American

Grace and Frankie

As someone who frequently sings the Golden Girls theme song in public spaces to see who was raised with taste, I have to say Grace and Frankie really reignites an old flame (pun intended) for me. I hope to one day be as open and bat sh*t as Frankie and as rich as Grace when I one day retire. But, the show really brings back that reliable “Sex and the City” trope as the two seniors galavant through various adventures: what if our best friends are our real soul mates? All arthritic fingers point to yes.
